Every year, schools come together to honor their star athletes of the season and also to reward teamwork and good sportsmanship. Encouraging young athletes and acknowledging their efforts all year can be an inspiring moment in their life–and what better way to celebrate than by throwing a sports banquet? Here are some ways to make your sports banquet memorable and give those dedicated athletes a night they won’t forget.
Decorate with team uniforms: Perhaps the most personal thing there is to any athlete is their jersey and uniform. They wear their gear with pride and putting some of these items on display can bring up great memories and serve as inspiration. Consider using jerseys as chair covers to really add that extra personal touch.
Fill the space with team colors: Decorating the room with streamers, balloons, candles and other decor in the color of your school’s team will really showcase that team spirit and pride. You can also fill the space with pictures of players, both current and throughout the years, or even have a memory wall of different styles of jerseys over time.
Produce a highlight video: This night is all about the kids and showcasing their athleticism. Kids love seeing themselves up on the big screen and producing a highlight reel of the greatest plays, passes and scores will really get the crowd going! Don’t forget to show their coach some love and include a pep talk by him or her or even a shot of the team in a huddle before a game! While it’s important to recognize the individual efforts of the players, it’s just as important to encourage teamwork and salute those who have worked together over the successful season.
